Have you ever heard of
Glogster? Thought about using in your classroom?
The purpose of this week’s
blog post is to share how Glogster can be such an awesome tool to use with your
students! Please check out the resources I’ve provided below to deepen your understanding
and learn ways to incorporate Glogster with your class!
Glogster is such a great
tool to incorporate for digital media project! Glogster is similar to a blog, instead
it is one single page on a specific topic. Students can design their own page
by adding text, videos, and images. Students can use all forms of text, and
formatting to create an original piece.
Glogster can be used to
create autobiographies, biographies, timelines, family tree, current event/history
reports, how-to explanations, newsletter and more.
Students can create
their Glog to present as a class project, they can also be printed if students
want to later display their digital poster.
Glogster is not only
student use, teachers can implement interactive instruction using this visual representation
of a topic. Adding videos, images and color will engage students and present a
lot of information in one organized space.
Overall, Glogster is
such an interactive and fun way for students to learn 21 century digital media
skills, including researching, typing, finding visual aids, and unleashing
creativity. It’s an alternative way for students to display their information
using digital media.

Alyssa, thank you for sharing! I have heard of Glogster but I have never used it before, or really understood what it was used for. I love the idea of having students take ownership in their work by creating an engaging project that can be displayed for many to see. In addition, I really appreciate the links you included in your post. Usually, once I have found a product I am interested in using, I will go on Pinterest or similar sites to find out more information. You have already provided me with my "next step" research and weeded out resources not relevant to teaching. Great post, thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteNicole,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad my post was helpful and hopefully useful for you in the future. Like I stated, Glogster is such a fun and interactive learning tool! Try it out and see! :)
Alyssa,
ReplyDeleteI have used Glogtser a couple of times, and really enjoy it! As you mention, it's extremely versatile in how you can use it as well as who can use it. Glogster is absolutely something I anticipate using in my own classroom. Thank you for sharing this great resource!

Allysa,
ReplyDeleteThe first time I heard about Glogster was in one of my undergrad classes at UCF. We had to use Glogster to create a presentation on a literature author. From the moment I started using the site, I fell in love! I thought it was so cool and felt that it could be used in so many different ways in the classroom. I have previously used Glogster for beginning of the year All About Me projects. I also allow students to use it as another presentation format in lieu of PowerPoint or Prezi. The students really loved it! The students are engaged with this resource and they get extremely creative. However, the only downfall was classroom time. I was not able to utilize it this year for a beginning of the year activity due to lack of time (if only we could have more of that). My goal is to try to use it net year since our grade level now has a laptop cart that is on a rotating schedule.
Thanks for all the great resources you included on your blog about Glogster!
Bianca
Allysa,
ReplyDeleteI love that you discussed Glogster! It is so much fun for the students! I used it when I taught fourth grade and my students were working on a Florida history project. It is so versatile and unique.

Allysa,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I had no idea what a Glogster was until you shared it on your blog. Do you think I could use a Glogster for my second grade students? I'm not sure if they would be able to use it appropriately. I do like the idea that I can utilize it to implement interactive instruction. I also appreciate the resources you posted, they give me a clear indication of what a Glogster will look like when completed. Great Job!
Simone,
DeleteI'm glad I was able to introduce you to Glogster. Depending on the assignment type, I believe your 2nd graders could produce a great page. I would consider starting with a simple task, like an "about me" for the beginning of the year where they get familiar with it and learn the tools, then depending how they do increase the task to reflect a standard. I hope you get to try it out and love it like I do!
